There are four major types of college essays that you will write. When you understand the major difference between each one your writing assignments will be that much easier. The four major types of college essays are: Narrative Essays, Descriptive Essays, Expository Essays, Persuasive essays. Through this article we will explore the differences between each one.
Writing a narrative essay isn’t much different than writing a story. This isn’t to imply that it’s the same as writing a short piece of fiction. In this case it’s more like a news story or a magazine article. You will tell a story about a real life experience – either yours or someone else’s. It is typically written in the first person perspective. At the end of the essay you will have delivered a personal statement or belief in a powerful and effective way.

If you’ve already been through the gruelling process of trying to find a decent essay example to help you with your own, then you know how rare they are. It seems that free examples obtained online are always wrought with some or other defect, making them less than adequate for what you need. There are often even examples that float around campuses, but these too are freely available for one good reason: they’re just NO GOOD!
One of the problems with free examples that are accessible online is that they aren’t very good. They may or may not have even been submitted to a professor; or the markings that are there, are fake. It’s really hard to say, but the general sign is that when you read it, it’s not that great.
Another issue with so many free examples is that they are too old to be relevant anymore. Time brings in a lot of new information and research results are updated all the time in many cases. Having an example that’s even a few years old could be hopelessly outdated for what you’ll need.
Your essay topic is hardly general. Specific topics need precise attention according to what they are and what they require. It’s hard enough to find a free essay that’s actually good, let alone one that has anything remotely to do with your topic.
Another point of relevance pertains to the format of the essay you’ve obtained. Because you haven’t paid for yours, you don’t get to choose one that fits the structure you require.
Another factor often overlooked is the fact that if you can get hold of a free essay, everyone else in you class can get hold of the same one.
At the end of it all, if you’re going to do something, do it right the first time. Instead of wasting your time and resources and finding out the hard way that free examples are unhelpful, go the route of paying for one that is suited to your specifications and walk away from your essay smiling.
Paying for an essay example means you get to determine what essay example you receive. Choose one that’s relevant to your subject and topic, one that was written recently enough to be relevant, and one that’s actually interesting to read.
