The major types of college essays

There are four major types of college essays that you will write. When you understand the major difference between each one your writing assignments will be that much easier. The four major types of college essays are: Narrative Essays, Descriptive Essays, Expository Essays, Persuasive essays. Through this article we will explore the differences between each one.

Narrative Essays (Story Time)

Writing a narrative essay isn’t much different than writing a story. This isn’t to imply that it’s the same as writing a short piece of fiction. In this case it’s more like a news story or a magazine article. You will tell a story about a real life experience – either yours or someone else’s. It is typically written in the first person perspective. At the end of the essay you will have delivered a personal statement or belief in a powerful and effective way.

Science research papers: general intent

Science research papers must be completed by students who wish to earn degrees in science related subjects. These papers are very detailed and provide necessary information for scientists to communicate back and forth with one another about the research they are conducting and the results they have found. In order to make this task easy, it is essential that the paper be well-written so that it is easy to understand and comprehend. The paper should also contain a lot of information and details so the scientist has no reason to look anywhere else for information. When writing the paper here are a few tips to keep in mind. With these tips writing your paper is a far easier assignment that will produce even better results.

  1. The title of the paper is important. It should reflect the topic of the paper and should describe them in detail without becoming too technical.
  2. You should use only credible sources of information. In this type of research paper it is a good idea to use scholarly resources when they are available. This adds so much value to the paper.
  3. An abstract is the first piece of information that will be on your paper. An abstract is a short summary of the paper. This abstract is very important as oftentimes this is the only piece of the paper that will be read. It is important, for this reason that the time be taken to carefully write this abstract. It should be very detailed and stand out. The abstract should be around 250 to 300 words, and not less than100 words.
  4. You introduction will follow the abstract. This introduction should entail why readers should hear what you have to say.
  5. The materials and other methods of research that were used to write your paper should always be cited in the writing that you construct.
  6. You should always provide readers with the information needed to learn facts such as how you answered the question, the protocol that was used, if it was used, etc.
  7. Your report should also include the results of your research, and this should be divided into two to three paragraphs. Start with the most important information.
  8. Tables and graphs should be used in the paper. These graphs and tables make it easier to digest the information quickly.
  9. A discussion for the paper is needed. This should highlight the results of the paper without repeating anything that already has been said or discussed.
